Basic Concepts

  • one-way SMS: An SMS that does not allow the receiver to respond. It is typically used for important updates or news where a response is not expected.

  • captcha: An interactive test used to verify that the user is a human, often implemented as a challenge-response test.

  • conversion rate: The percentage of recipients who take a desired action (conversions) after receiving a text message.

  • delivery receipt (delivery report): A response from the mobile carrier's SMS center confirming the status of a sent text message. It helps determine which messages have been successfully delivered.

  • sender: The identification displayed as the caller ID in the user's SMS interface. It can be either an alphanumeric Sender ID or a numeric Sender ID, depending on the country.

  • signature: The company or business identification placed before or after the text message body, typically enclosed in square brackets.

  • template: The main content of a text message, with specific length restrictions.

  • OTP message: A text message containing a one-time verification code used to authenticate a visitor's identity, or a notification message sent to remind or notify a user.

  • MKT message: A marketing text message used to promote events or campaigns.
